We exist because the system wasn’t working for the people it was supposed to help.

Our story — why DeputyCo was founded

DeputyCo was founded from first-hand family experience because lay deputies deserve better support.

We saw how hard it can be for families to get clear information and confidence in how finances are being managed.

That experience made one thing clear: lay deputies need practical tools, plain guidance, and a trusted community.

The moment things changed

Independent legal advice challenged a common assumption: that lay deputyship is only viable for experts.

In many cases, once major one-off decisions are complete, the role becomes structured ongoing work that can be managed well with the right systems and support.

That insight is why DeputyCo exists: to provide practical support people can actually use.

Who DeputyCo is built for

DeputyCo supports two groups who are often underserved.

Lay deputies already in role who need better tools, clearer guidance, and peer support.

Families with a professional deputy who are exploring whether lay deputyship may be right for them.

Legal professionals are critical at specific points in many deputyships, especially where cases are complex. Our focus is helping families make informed choices, handle appropriate day-to-day responsibilities confidently, and seek specialist advice when needed.

What DeputyCo is

DeputyCo has two pillars:

DeputyWise — practical software for deputyship record-keeping, reminders, and annual reporting preparation.

DeputyCo Community — a place for deputies to ask questions, share experience, and support each other.

Both exist to serve a single mission: Empower every lay deputy to manage their responsibilities confidently, affordably, and without isolation.

What we believe

  1. The client comes first. Every decision should support the best interests of the person who lacks capacity.

  2. Transparency by default. We are clear about what we know, what we don’t, and what changes.

  3. Accessible to everyone. Our tools and community must work for people without specialist training.

  4. Community before commerce. The community exists to support deputies, not to push sales.

  5. Compliance as empowerment. We help deputies stay organised and prepared for compliance responsibilities.

How we work

We focus on practical support that deputies can use day to day.

Our approach is simple:

Efficient:
Keep admin straightforward so time goes where it matters.
Consistent:
Use clear, repeatable processes people can rely on.
Human-overseen:
Important decisions and public-facing outcomes are reviewed by people.

The goal is practical help, delivered clearly and responsibly.

If you work with deputies professionally, we’d also welcome your input.
